Philmann Architekten approached us with the request to implement the earth building elements for the exhibition in the Danish pavilion at the Architecture Biennale 2025. Our task was to realize functional and creative architectural elements under challenging conditions.

Specifically, Lehmag was responsible for creating the sample blocks with different aggregates such as tannin, lignin or algae to increase the compressive strength of rammed earth. The "tower" symbolizes a material depot, the corridor was given a temporary, "rough" clay floor, and the entrance area a reinterpretation of an original Venetian terrazzo floor made of local clay, including a ramp. In the opposite room we have a 7m wide and 1.10m deep bench made of rammed earth, which invites you to linger and watch the documentary film that was made during the renovation phase.

The Danish pavilion is a space in transition - workshop, laboratory, exhibition. Our clay buildings are not just functional elements, but also play a key role in shaping the character of the space. They combine design standards with precision craftsmanship and show how traditional materials can be given new meaning in a contemporary context.

The exhibition was officially opened on May 8 and will remain open until November 2025 as part of the Architecture Biennale 2025.
