The Albert Anker Center in Ins was renovated and extended by Atelier Marcel Hegg in 2024. A central part of this is the conversion of Anker's original family home into a public museum, residence and workhouse. The project is being carried out by Zimmerei Hirschi AG and LEHMAG, and the client is the Albert Anker House Ins Foundation.
The first rammed earth floor in the house was built by hand in 1803. More than 200 years later, a similar rammed earth floor is being built according to the historical model and using contemporary construction techniques. The excavation for the floor comes from Ins itself, from a pit a few hundred meters away.
