LEHMAG® trass clay

Trass loam is an earth-moist mixture of clay, silt, sand and gravel, which is tamped layer by layer with a binding agent, but without further additives, into a formwork or onto a dimensionally stable base and dries out in the air after direct stripping.

Description

You can obtain the mixture of excavated soil and trass lime from us already mixed, which then only needs to be moistened with water before use.

Definition of

Our stabilized trass clay mixtures are produced from excavated earth from construction sites to meet the high requirements for aesthetics and material properties, which are developed exclusively by LEHMAG AG. We prefer to use regional material sources and process them carefully. In this way, local excavated material can be returned to the economic cycle and saved from being dumped in gravel pits. If desired, we can also use your own soil, e.g. from the excavation of foundations or cellars. After analyzing and testing the soil, this enables an even more locally anchored construction.

Origin

Clay is a mixture of clay, sand and silt and, in some cases, gravel, which is mainly the result of weathering, erosion and sedimentation of rock. Clay is therefore available almost everywhere in the world in various colors and compositions.

Trass lime

If the excavated earth is mixed with a binding agent such as trass lime, it is partially stabilized or reinforced, depending on the proportion. This is mainly used when rammed elements, for example on exposed façades, cannot be adequately protected. Trass lime significantly increases the compressive strength of the rammed earth. Although it has to be fired as a hydraulic binder, it is much gentler than cement as it is fired at lower temperatures and is partly obtained directly from natural sources.
